Entry rules for AI-made films

Check which edition the rules belong to

A festival's page often shows last year's rules long after the deadline, and the next edition's before it opens. On the reading day KCAIF's 2027 call was still to open on October 1, and Sparknify's 2027 portal was not yet open. From 5 source pages, read 2026-09-25; no maker pays to be listed.

Project Odyssey's published rules are from Season 2, with Season 3 announced as coming soon. The 1 Billion AI Film Award and Gen:48 describe editions that have already closed.

Read the year on the rules before the deadline: a new edition may change the running time, the AI rule or the fee.

The calendar keeps past dates as a guide to when the next edition might open.

2The making side of an entry

For an entrant reading “Check which edition the rules belong to”, this is what SceneMixer publishes about the film its pipeline hands over:

Dubbing replaces the audio of a finished clip; the picture was generated for a different line, so mouth shapes, pauses and shot length all belong to the original language. Native-language generation gives the video model the line in the target language before it renders the shot, so the performance, the pacing and the cut points are built for that language.

The new name is written everywhere the old one stood: storyboard lines, episode titles and summaries, the scene lists and already-parsed dialogue.
