Disclosure of AI use in festival rules
Disclosure is the entrant's statement of whether and how AI was used. Rules differ on what must be disclosed and what happens if something is left out. From 4 source pages, read 2026-09-25; no maker pays to be listed.
Sundance puts no limit on AI but makes disclosure the applicant's responsibility, and a project can be disqualified if AI use goes undisclosed. WAIFF USA wants every AI tool disclosed, across image, video, voice and audio.
Reply asks entrants to explain how AI was used. The Academy may ask for more information about generative AI and human authorship.
Disclosure is becoming the default price of entry. Even festivals that set no limit on AI want to know.
Write the disclosure while making the film; reconstructing it at the deadline is where things get missed.

2The making side of an entry
For an entrant reading “Disclosure”, this is what SceneMixer publishes about the film its pipeline hands over:
The lines are re-heard and written in the language your project is set to, and the finished episode is spoken by the voices attached to your own characters.

The project has one dialogue language; lines you write in another language are spoken as written after a confirmation.
