How the entry rules are read
Each festival's rules were read on one day, on the organiser's own site: its rules page, FAQ or official rules document. Each of eight items is filed under one reading and kept with the words that state it. Submission platforms and news coverage are not used as sources. As of 2026-09-25.
1Which festivals are listed
A festival, competition or award is listed when it takes films made with AI and publishes its own rules in English. Two established events, the Sundance Film Festival and the Academy Awards, are listed because their rules say how AI is treated, though neither is an AI festival. Festivals whose only rules sit on a submission platform, or only in another language, are left out.
2Money
Entry fees are recorded as a pattern, free, free for some, or rising by deadline, but not as amounts, which change with each deadline and currency. Prize figures are recorded as the rules state them.
3Deadlines and editions
Each festival is read for its latest edition. A deadline is marked open or closed as of the reading day. Where a festival has announced a new edition without rules, the last published rules are read and the page says so.
4Not legal advice
The readings describe what the rules say, briefly and in plain words. Rights terms in particular are summarised; the full wording in the organiser's document governs.

6What a generator hands an entrant
For an entrant reading “How rules are read”, this is what SceneMixer publishes about the film its pipeline hands over:
SceneMixer generates each character once as a full-body reference sheet — 9:16, plain background, directional key light, identity features written before any technical instruction — and then attaches crops of that sheet to every shot the character appears in.

SceneMixer turns a novel into a watchable short-drama series in one pipeline: upload the novel (Chinese or English) → AI extracts characters, scenes, and an episode-by-episode structure → generates consistent character and scene art → writes storyboard scripts → renders video segment by segment (16:9 by default, 9:16 in one setting) → composites full episodes.

How the register is kept. The tables, counts and rankings on this site are computed by script from the register, and every figure links to the page it was read from, with the words quoted. No maker pays to be listed or to change a place, and each ranking states its rule, written before the places were computed. Entries are not edited at a maker's request: a figure that is out of date is fixed on the maker's own page and picked up when the pages are next read, at least every three months.
