Warranty of rights in festival entries
A warranty of rights is the entrant's promise that every part of the film can lawfully be used: images, music, voices and likenesses, including anything generated. From 4 source pages, read 2026-09-25; no maker pays to be listed.
The African AI Film Festival asks the entrant to own or have secured all rights, including outside assets, music and likenesses. LTX's competition asks entrants to own or hold rights to everything, AI-generated content included. Chroma's rules require full rights to grant the licence they ask for.
Runway's rules have entrants confirm they are the sole legal owner of the rights they grant.
AI makes the warranty harder, not easier. A generated voice that sounds like a real person, or a scene that copies a known character, can break it.
Documented consent for every recognisable face and voice is the simplest protection.
