Entry rules for AI-made films

Keep a tool log while working

Eleven festivals on the register ask entrants to say which tools they used or how AI was used, and Sundance can disqualify a project when AI use is not disclosed. From 4 source pages, read 2026-09-25; no maker pays to be listed.

WAIFF in Cannes wants a production file, Astana the models and pipeline, the African AI Film Festival the main tools and models.

A running log, tool, shot, date, settings, turns each of those into ten minutes of copying rather than a day of reconstruction.

The same log answers the rights questions: where each voice, image and piece of music came from.

2What a generator hands an entrant

For an entrant reading “Keep a tool log while working”, this is what SceneMixer publishes about the film its pipeline hands over:

SceneMixer writes dialogue into the script analysis, assigns each line to a shot with a speaker and a short delivery note, and the video model performs it — picture and audio generated together, so the mouth forms that sentence in the language you chose.

SceneMixer turns a novel into a watchable short-drama series in one pipeline: upload the novel (Chinese or English) → AI extracts characters, scenes, and an episode-by-episode structure → generates consistent character and scene art → writes storyboard scripts → renders video segment by segment (16:9 by default, 9:16 in one setting) → composites full episodes.
