1What its pages say

Sora is OpenAI's video model and app. The API guide gives generations of up to 20 seconds on sora-2 and sora-2-pro, and lets a finished video be extended into a new, stitched result. OpenAI's terms say the user owns the output, with OpenAI assigning its own rights in it, as far as the law allows. For downloads from sora.com and the app, its Sora 2 system card lists a moving watermark in the picture, and it lists C2PA metadata for every asset.

2Why it is on the list

The entry rules of the African AI Film Festival name it.

List the main AI tools and models (Runway, Sora, Midjourney, ElevenLabs, etc.) and briefly describe how AI was used.

Who owns what comes out: User owns the output

you (a) retain your ownership rights in Input and (b) own the Output.

Six festivals here make entrants warrant they hold every right in the film and five let them keep copyright while granting a licence.

Longest clip in one generation: Up to 20 seconds

Generate videos up to 20 seconds when you need longer beats, fuller scenes, or fuller spots.

OpenAI API, video generation guide

Six festivals here want three minutes or more; three minutes alone takes at least nine clips at Sora's longest length.

Joining clips into a film: One clip extended

Video extensions let you continue an existing completed video and create a new stitched result.

Running-time rules apply to the finished film, so the clips have to be put together somewhere.

Marks on the file: Visible watermark and C2PA metadata

Thirteen of the 25 festivals here ask, or keep the right to ask, about the AI an entrant used; the marks are what the tool leaves in the file either way.
