Authorship decides who is credited and who answers for the film, and festivals split on it. A rule that a person leads the story is a statement about the craft as much as the paperwork.
For an entrant the practical effect is the credit line and the statement that goes with the entry. A film directed by a person who used AI tools fits every festival here; a film presented as made by a model fits fewer of them.
